3D Design Work
Outside of digital product design and branding, I also enjoy making things with my hands. This is a collection of 3D projects that I’ve worked on and range in size from a house that I designed and built and now live in with my partner to molded felt bowls. I have experience working with a range of 3D software, 3D printing, and enjoy handcrafting.
The Cube Cabin

Flat-Pack Chair (collaboration with Dena Horstkotte)
Water-jet cut from a single 48” x 32” sheet of oriented strand board
Curves provide an ergonomic seat while allowing the individual pieces to nest, maximizing the limited material
Interlocking slots create a no-tool 2-minute assembly
Unassembled pieces flat-pack into a box 1” thick and less than half the size of the original material for efficient shipping and storage

3D Printed Shoes
Components print quickly allowing for easy replacement
Wedge sole capitalizes on 3D prints being rigid and strong by using infill to provide stability
Contoured foot bed for comfort
Chain style straps flex with the foot
Screws attach the straps into the sole creating a studded look and secure fit

Textiles
These felt bowls and purses were sold at Merchantle Home, a retailer based in Easton, PA that exclusively carries artisan and handmade goods.
The bowl design called “tessellate” combined hard and soft by taking an item which is usually made of a hard material and making it out of a soft material by sculpting that material to have a geometric form with hard lines. Each bowl was created by molding felt using 3D printed molds that were clamped together and left to dry. Each bowl is finished with a high-gloss 3D printed rim that allow the bowls to stack.
The clutch also explored the combination of hard and soft by using laser cut felt and simple studded hardware to create a protective, stylish, and waterproof solution to carrying an iPad mini.
